This palace is located in Cipanas Village, Cipanas District, Cianjur Regency. Cipanas Palace is one of five presidential palaces in Indonesia. The palace, which was built on 26 hectares of land, is the oldest palace. At first this palace was a private building built in 1740 by the Dutch landlord Van Heots, but due to the attractiveness of its hot springs during the reign of Governor General G.W. Baron van Imhoff (1743) built a medical building.[2]

Of the 26 hectares of land, the total land area used for buildings is only 7900 square meters, the rest is used for forests and parks. Over time, this palace was often used as a resting place for the Governor-General of the Netherlands. And over time the number of buildings in this area is increasing. After Indonesia's independence, this palace continued to function as a resting place for the president and vice president.[3]

The beauty of the garden and the architecture of the ancient buildings will automatically make you unable to take pictures or pose in front of them. You are free to take pictures as long as you are outdoors. However, when you enter the Palace, the security guards will forbid you to take pictures.  It's a shame it can't capture the contents of the Palace. Because when you first enter inside you will find two crystal chandeliers produced in 1900 from Czechoslovakia which complement the beauty of the Turkish rug.[4]

Like a painting museum, on every wall of the Palace there must be a painting by famous painters such as Affandi and Soejono D S. Even Soejono DS once presented a painting as a gift for President Soekarno's 57th birthday. Soekarno gave the name of the painting "Jalanan Seribu Pandang". Apart from the main building, you will also find 5 pavilions around the palace. President Soekarno then named each pavilion with the name of the Five Pandavas, namely Yudistira, Arjuna, Bima, Nakula, and Sadewa.[5]

In addition, there is also a hot spring and a museum that stores a collection of items given by state guests, unfortunately the rules for not taking pictures also apply in every building. "Besides the main building and pavilion, there is one more building where President Soekarno used to look for inspiration, such as when he wanted to make a speech, namely the Bentol building. The building is not too big, there is a table placed by the window directly facing the foot of the mountain. A round table cupboard and bed are also neatly arranged in this place.[6]
